When we meditate, we focus our awareness on our breath, on a mantra repeated silently, or an image in the mind's eye, etc... The benefits of meditation are numerous. I have a list of 100 of them, here are just a few :

Increasing blood flow
Enhancing immune function
Reducing perception of pain and relieving chronic pain due to arthritis and other disorders
Maintaining level mood
